Horton Field House
Horton Field House contains 8,000 seats and is home to the Athletics Department and the Redbird Swimming team. It also houses part of the School of Kinesiology and Recreation.
Horton Field House opened as the first major building in West Campus in 1963 and was named after Dr. Clifford Pops Horton, director of the men's Health and Physical Education Department at Illinois State for 33 years. Dr. Horton served at the University from 1923-1961.
The Horton Pool is located at the west end of the Horton complex and was built for speed. The six-lane pool is where 23 of the 24 Illinois State school swimming records have been set. Through the years, Redbird swimmers have claimed six Midwest Independent titles, three National Independent championships and six conference titles while training at their convenient home. Still considered a 'fast pool,' the facility also includes a dry board inside and outside the pool for training, a trampoline, a hot tub for relaxing sore muscles, and inspiring Redbird Spirit decor painted on the walls.
The Horton Field House is located in West Campus, west of Hancock Stadium and North of the Redbird Arena.

Horton Pool is part of the Horton Athletic Complex and is one of the fastest pools in the state of Illinois. Redbird swimmers and divers can conveniently train on campus for competition.
Horton Pool underwent a massive renovation prior to the 2009-10 season.
The North Gym is nestled inside Horton Field House, just 100 yards from Redbird Arena. The practice facility for Redbird volleyball and men's and women's basketball underwent a nearly $500,000 face-lift in recent years.
New baskets and a new Rezil Channel Connor floor, which is considered the safest maple floor playing surface on the market, were recently installed. The gym also received a fresh paint job to show off Redbird pride.
