Williams Hall was opened in 1940 and was named after Arthur R. Williams, the first head of Business Education at Illinois State. Williams was also the second teacher hired for the Business Department in 1917. He began his career by helping to establish courses in the business curriculum.
Williams also promoted and expanded the Business Teacher Training Program. Williams Hall originally served as Milner Library until 1976. It has a red brick Georgian exterior with sandstone columns and is highlighted indoors by a gray marble foyer with double winding stairs.
Williams Hall is located by the Old Union Building, Stevenson Hall, and the Performing Arts Center on the southeast end of the quad.
