Being comfortable on their home field has played a large role in the Redbirds' success.
The award-winning Redbird Softball Complex officially opened on April 3, 1999, ushering in a new era in Illinois State softball that continues to bring winning traditions and successful years to the program. The Redbird Softball Complex replaced historic McCormick Field, the home of the Redbirds for 31 years.
The complex, which is located on the east side of Adelaide Street and adjacent to other athletics facilities, has a natural grass playing surface, lights, convenient parking, outstanding media facilities and excellent seating for fans. The move has Redbird softball closer to its locker rooms, training facilities and offices.
Redbird Softball Complex is on the right side just past the student residence halls and before Adelaide Street Field.
