The Department of Biological Sciences still maintains some offices in Felmley Hall of Science, including the "Collections House" (greenhouse). The Illinois State Planetarium is located near the Southeast corner of Felmley and the Health Sciences and Geography-Geology departments are now also located here.
Felmley Hall of Science was named after David Felmley, President of Illinois State Normal University from 1900-1930. David Femley was an advocate for the needs of students and faculty for three decades and worked to expand areas of curriculum. Felmley Hall opened in 1930. In 1962, the University received a grant from the National Science Foundation to assist with a $1.8 million annex.
Felmley Hall is located next to Schroeder Hall and Moulton Hall on the corner of W. College Ave. and S. School St., on the northeast end of the quad.
